Volunteer Roles
Volunteers are an essential part of our events. We could make these events successful without your help. Thank you for your dedication to the brain tumor community and commitment to the cause.

Training will be provided when you arrive or your station will have instructions. We will do our best to match you with your preferred volunteer role; however, due to demand this is not always possible. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to tduncan@braintumor.org

Planning Committee
Join our dedicated team of volunteers that help plan, execute and make this event successful each year. Contact tduncan@braintumor.org if you want more information or are interested in joining our walk planning team.

Street Team TODAY & Ongoing
We are looking for individuals or groups to hang posters in local stores, libraries, coffee shops, hospitals, etc. Grab some friends, have a fun few hours, and give back to the brain tumor community! Email me at tduncan@braintumor.org today to receive some posters for distribution.

Volunteer Check-in 6:30 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
Checking in all volunteers for the event. Provide instructions and other key items for the volunteers. Organize and pack remaining supplies after the event.

Set-Up Crew (Day before Event) –  3:00 p.m.
Assist in set-up and decorations for the event.

Set-Up Crew (Day of Event) 6:00 a.m. – 8:30 a.m.
Help with unloading and placing boxes and supplies in the tents in preparation for event. Organize tables and hang signage. Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs.

Registration/Check-In/ T-shirt Distribution 6:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
This job is recommended for those who feel comfortable and confident using electronic tablets. You will be setting-up Registration and Check-In tent, check-in pre-registered participants and register new walk-ups. You may also be responsible for collecting donations and or distributing t-shirts. Mandatory registration training will take place in the morning before registration begins.

Refreshments 6:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Assist in setting up the food area on-site. Monitor and help distribute food to participants. Organize and pack remaining supplies after the event. Must be able to be on your feet for long periods of time.

Cactus of Hope/Honor and Celebrate Tent 6:30 a.m. – Noon
Assist participants in writing messages and hanging photos and ornaments of loved ones on the Cactus of Hope.

Team Central/Signs 6:30 a.m. – 9:30 a.m.
Set up the designated team sign creation area, complete with craft supplies. Assist participants as necessary.

Line Monitors 7:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.
Assist and support registration tent with crowd direction and control within the lines.

Route Marshals 8:30 a.m. – Noon
Direct walk participants from the start/finish line safely around the course and back. Volunteers will assist with road crossings, directions, crowd control and information.

Water Stop 7:30 a.m. – Noon
Set-up and breakdown water stop for event day. Distribute water to participants and distribute NBTS info to the general public who stops by.

Cheerleaders 8:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
Cheer on the participants as they start the walk, along the route, and welcome them back when they return. You are encouraged to bring pom-poms and other cheer gear.

Breakdown/Clean-up 11:00 a.m. – Noon
Organize and pack supplies and assist with clean up. Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs.
