Event Day Program

9:45 AMNational Brain Tumor Society Staff and CEO Sally Davis, will share information about what the organization is currently working on.

10:00 AM – Brain tumor survivor, Stacie Feldhusen, will share her story.

10:10 AMSurvivor Photo in front of the stage. All survivors at the event are encouraged to be in the photo.

10:15 AM – Walk begins!

11:00 AM – the final walkers should be arriving – we’ll settle back into our areas and we’ll hear from researcher Dr. Jerry Genaro

11:15 AM – Joining us will be research guest speaker from the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA and the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research, Dr. Jerry Genaro.

11:30 AM – Announcement of our final fundraising numbers and distribution of fundraising prizes.

Top team and top individual fundraisers will be acknowledged during the closing ceremony.

Rain or shine the event will go on! Regardless of weather, layered clothing, windbreakers, sunglasses, and sunscreen are recommended.

Directions & Parking

Our event will be held at Field #2 closest to North Harbor Drive and West Grape Street. Click here to check out where our festivities will be held as well as the walk route! There will be directional yard signs to guide you during the walk as well.

Parking is very limited around the site. Please click here for a map of available public parking in the surrounding area. Many places will charge for parking, which you will incur the fee for. There are also metered parking in the area.

Drop Off Information

There will be a loading/unloading and drop off area right in front of where our event will be held on Harbor Drive. Limited handicap parking will also be available on a first come basis near the drop off area. Please plan accordingly.

Food at the Walk

There will be a “Refreshments” tent with light snacks and water. These items are on a first-come, first-served basis and will not serve as a meal. If you’d like, you may pack a picnic lunch or a late breakfast snack and find a spot on the lawn to enjoy with your teammates and the rest of the walkers.

Is there a registration fee?

Registration for the Walk is $25. Youth under 18 are free. All participants receive a free t-shirt. Upon registration, you will receive a personal fundraising page and useful online tools to help you jumpstart your efforts. Even after the event is over, you will still have access to your personal fundraising page, allowing you to maximize your impact in the fight against brain tumors.

Am I required to fundraise a minimum amount?

Adults are encouraged to raise a minimum of $500 or more to help fund the discovery of a cure and better treatments for brain tumors.

Where do Brain Tumor Events funds go?

Proceeds from the event support research to find a cure for brain tumors, public policy advocacy, and patient information to make sure the critical needs of the brain tumor community are met, through the National Brain Tumor Society (NBTS).

Do I need to register my children?

No, children 17 and younger do not need to register or pay a fee to attend the event. However, we strongly encourage you to register your children ahead of time so that we can anticipate their attendance and secure their commemorative t-shirt.

I plan to participate to support one of my friends and their team. Do I still have to register?

If you are walking, running or riding you must register to participate. If you plan to attend as a cheering section, you do not need to register. Registration is open the day of the event.

Can I walk and volunteer?

Yes! If you plan to walk and volunteer, please register as a Walker FIRST, and then email your contact information to us.

What are Matching Gift Programs?

Many employers have matching gift programs and will match any charitable contributions made by their employees. Ask your employer or HR department for more information. Generally, you will be asked to complete and submit a form to NBTS for approval. This form can be sent to the above address.

Are pets allowed at the event?

Pets are allowed as long as they are on a leash that is less than 6 feet long.

Will I receive an event t-shirt?

All registered participants, volunteers, and survivors receive a t-shirt.
