Event Day Program
10:00 – Registration Opens
10:30 – The emcee will open the stage program.
10:35 – National Brain Tumor Society Staff will share information about what the organization is currently working on.
10:40 – Remembrance Ceremony will be held at the Honor & Celebrate Tent. This is an elective ceremony for people to join if they want to honor a loved one who has passed away. We will take just a few minutes to read a poem and reflect on their memory.
10:50 – Survivor Photo in front of the stage. All survivors at the event are encouraged to be in the photo.
11:00 – Survivor Guest Speaker
11:05 – Research Guest Speaker
11:10 – Costume Contest – Every participant is encouraged to dress with as much NBTS Freeze Spirit as they can. Awards will be given for best costume (Individual & Team).
11:25 – Team Captain Call Out before the Freeze each team captain will be allowed to call out the name of their Freeze honoree.
11:30 – Freeze! Every registered participant will run into the lake (waist deep is encouraged) to FREEZE the Disease!
11:30 – Bad Mother Nature will play for us through lunch
12:00 – The 2017 Planning Committee Members will close out our program by announcing our final fundraising numbers and will distribute fundraising prizes.
Top team and top individual fundraisers will be acknowledged during the closing ceremony.
Rain or shine the event will go on!
Food at the Freeze
Chando’s Tacos, Gyro King & Squeeze Inn Food Trucks will be onsite!
There will also be a refreshments tent with donated dry goods and various types of beverages however, these are on a first come first served basis and are not intended to serve as a meal. You are encouraged to bring a blanket and pack a lunch to enjoy picnic style after the Freeze. Please stay within the park rules and guidelines.
Directions & Parking to Nimbus Dam Recreation Area
From the Sacramento International Airport: Follow signs for I‐5 South out of the Airport toward Sacramento. At exit 518, take ramp right for I‐80 East toward Fresno, then keep straight into US‐50 E towards South Lake Tahoe. Take the Hazel Avenue Exit (Exit 21.)
Directions from Highway 80: Heading West from Auburn or East from Sacramento or San Francisco take the Sierra College Blvd. exit (in the City of Rocklin) and turn South on Sierra College Blvd. In about 6 miles Sierra College Blvd. becomes Hazel Ave., continue South through the town of Orangevale and finally across the American River.
Directions from Highway 50: Heading West from Lake Tahoe or East from Sacramento or San Francisco take the Hazel Ave. (Exit 21).
