Event Day Program
7:30Registration Begins
8:00 — Committee Chairperson, Nicole Smith will open up the program with some personal sentiments about the event.
8:05National Brain Tumor Society Staff will share information about what the organization is currently working on.
8:10Remembrance Ceremony *NEW* will be held at the steps near the Registration Tent. This is an elective ceremony for people to join if they want to honor a loved one who has passed away. We will take just a few minutes to read a poem and have a moment of silence while we reflect on their memory.
8:20Survivor Photo in front of the stage. All survivors at the event are encouraged to be in the photo.

10:30Committee Chairperson, Nicole Smith — the 2016 Planning Committee Members will close out our program by announcing our final fundraising numbers, raffle and auction winners, and will distributing prizes.

Top team and top individual fundraisers will be acknowledged during the closing ceremony.

Rain or shine the event will go on!

Regardless of weather, layered clothing, windbreakers, sunglasses, and sunscreen are recommended.

Food at the Walk
There will be a “Refreshments” tent with donated pastries, fruit, coffee, and water.

Team Area
We will have a tent at the upper level of the Square on SW Yamhill where you can create your own team sign.

Photo Booth
Don’t miss the Photo Booth where you can have your picture taken with your team. Fun props included!

Honor and Celebrate
Please be sure to spend some time at the Honor & Celebrate Tent to fill out a Celebration Bib to recognize the loved ones you are supporting and to leave your message on the Hope & Memory Banner.

Raffle and Silent Auction
This year’s Raffle and Silent Auction is going to be better than ever! This year we are inviting YOU our walkers, team captains, and volunteers to bring a silent auction item to the walk. Whatever your item is sold for will be credited to your teams fundraising efforts. Learn more about how to participate in the silent auction here. Expect prizes such as vacation homes, theater tickets, restaurant gift certificates, spa days, and unique hand-crafted items. Checks, cash, credit and debit cards will be accepted.

Challenges & Prizes

  • Don’t forget about the $1K Club Challenge – raise $1,000 by August 4th to be entered to win a mini tablet

Directions & Parking

Pioneer Courthouse Square

Parking is free on downtown streets on Sunday until 1 pm. The Smart Park garages closest to Pioneer Courthouse Square are located at 818 SW 4th Avenue (at SW Yamhill) and 620 SW 3rd Avenue (at SW Alder). Drop Off
Participant drop off is available on 6th Avenue between SW Yamhill and SW Morrison is limited at the site. Metered parking is available along Mason Dr. on a first-come, first-served basis. Please plan to arrive early to use those spaces. Please only park in legal parking areas.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a registration fee?

Registration for the Walk is $25. Youth under 18 are free. All participants receive a free t-shirt. Upon registration, you will receive a personal fundraising page and useful online tools to help you jumpstart your efforts. Even after the event is over, you will still have access to your personal fundraising page, allowing you to maximize your impact in the fight against brain tumors.

Am I required to fundraise a minimum amount?

Adults are encouraged to raise a minimum of $500 or more to help fund the discovery of a cure and better treatments for brain tumors.

Where do Brain Tumor Events funds go?

Proceeds from the event support research to find a cure for brain tumors, public policy advocacy, and patient information to make sure the critical needs of the brain tumor community are met, through the National Brain Tumor Society (NBTS).

Do I need to register my children?

No, children 17 and younger do not need to register or pay a fee to attend the event. However, we strongly encourage you to register your children ahead of time so that we can anticipate their attendance and secure their commemorative t-shirt.

I plan to participate to support one of my friends and their team. Do I still have to register?

If you are walking, running or riding you must register to participate. If you plan to attend as a cheering section, you do not need to register. Registration is open the day of the event.

Can I walk and volunteer?

Yes! If you plan to walk and volunteer, please register as a Walker FIRST, and then email your contact information to us.

What are Matching Gift Programs?

Many employers have matching gift programs and will match any charitable contributions made by their employees. Ask your employer or HR department for more information. Generally, you will be asked to complete and submit a form to NBTS for approval. This form can be sent to the above address.

Are pets allowed at the event?

Pet policies vary, and are based on the rules of each venue. If pets are permitted at the venue, please keep your pets on a leash at all times. And, if your pet does not do well in large crowds, please consider leaving them at home. Please do not leave your pet in your car during the event.

Will I receive an event t-shirt?

All registered participants, volunteers, and survivors receive a t-shirt.
