Program and Activities: 8:00 AM – 11:00 AM
Length of Event: 5K Walk (approx. 3 miles)
7:30 — Registration Begins
8:00 — Committee Chairperson, Nicole Smith will open up the program with some personal sentiments about the event.
8:05 — National Brain Tumor Society Staff will share information about what the organization is currently working on.
8:10 — Remembrance Ceremony *NEW* will be held at the steps near the Registration Tent. This is an elective ceremony for people to join if they want to honor a loved one who has passed away. We will take just a few minutes to read a poem and have a moment of silence while we reflect on their memory.
8:20 — Survivor Photo in front of the stage. All survivors at the event are encouraged to be in the photo.
8:30 — Survivor Story
8:40 — Research Guest Speaker
8:50 — Call to Start
9:00 — Walk Begins
10:15 — Raffle and Auction Close
10:30 — Committee Chairperson, Nicole Smith — the 2016 Planning Committee Members will close out our program by announcing our final fundraising numbers, raffle and auction winners, and will distributing prizes.
Top team and top individual fundraisers will be acknowledged during the closing ceremony.
Rain or shine the event will go on!
Regardless of weather, layered clothing, windbreakers, sunglasses, and sunscreen are recommended.
There will be a “Refreshments” tent with donated pastries, fruit, coffee, and water.
We will have a tent at the upper level of the Square on SW Yamhill where you can create your own team sign.
Don’t miss the Photo Booth where you can have your picture taken with your team. Fun props included!
Please be sure to spend some time at the Honor & Celebrate Tent to fill out a Celebration Bib to recognize the loved ones you are supporting and to leave your message on the Hope & Memory Banner.
This year’s Raffle and Silent Auction is going to be better than ever! This year we are inviting YOU our walkers, team captains, and volunteers to bring a silent auction item to the walk. Whatever your item is sold for will be credited to your teams fundraising efforts. Learn more about how to participate in the silent auction here. Expect prizes such as vacation homes, theater tickets, restaurant gift certificates, spa days, and unique hand-crafted items. Checks, cash, credit and debit cards will be accepted.
The Portland Brain Tumor Walk route will be posted as soon as it is finalized. Check back soon for the map.
- Don’t forget about the $1K Club Challenge – raise $1,000 by August 4th to be entered to win a mini tablet
- NEW: All individuals who raise $1,000+ will become a Grey Guardian
- A prize will also be awarded to the top individual fundraiser!

Directions & Parking
Pioneer Courthouse Square
Parking is free on downtown streets on Sunday until 1 pm. The Smart Park garages closest to Pioneer Courthouse Square are located at 818 SW 4th Avenue (at SW Yamhill) and 620 SW 3rd Avenue (at SW Alder). Participant drop off is available on 6th Avenue between SW Yamhill and SW Morrison is limited at the site. Metered parking is available along Mason Dr. on a first-come, first-served basis. Please plan to arrive early to use those spaces. Please only park in legal parking areas.
