9:00 AM - Registration Opens
9:30 AM - Remembrance Ceremony- This is an elective ceremony for people to join if they want to honor a loved one who has passed away. We will take just a few minutes to read a poem and reflect on their memory.
9:45 AM - Opening remarks
9:55 AM - National Brain Tumor Society Staff will share information about what the organization is currently working on.
10:00 AM - Survivor Photo in front of the stage. All survivors at the event are encouraged to be in the photo.

10:15 AM - Freeze Participants gather up and let’s make our way toward the ocean!
10:30 AM - Freeze! Every registered participant will run into the ocean (waist deep is encouraged) to FREEZE the Disease! *Bring a towel and warm clothes to change into.
10:45 AM - Silent Auction Closes and winners announced. Final fundraising numbers announced.
10:55 AM - Walkers make your way toward balloon columns and stop for photos!
11:00 AM - Walk begins!
11:45 AM - Final Walkers return
12:00 PM - Commence. See you next year!
Rain or shine the event will go on! Regardless of weather, layered clothing, windbreakers, sunglasses, and sunscreen are recommended.

Our event will be held at the Hermosa Beach Pier Plaza in between Henessey’s Tavern and The Mermaid Restaurant near the running pathway known as “The Strand.”
Scene of the Freeze
We will hold our FREEZE portion of our event in the ocean parallel to where the Pier is located.
The walk route will stay on the bike and running pathway known as The Strand. We will first head northbound toward Manhattan Beach. We will eventually make a U-turn once you reach the end of the Hermosa Beach strand and go the opposite direction on the pathway until you reach your original destination at Pier Plaza.
Parking is very limited around the site. There are “Pay By Space” parking meters currently located in Parking Lot A at 11th Street & Hermosa Avenue and in the Downtown Parking Structure at 13th & Hermosa Avenue. Click here to see other parking locations around Hermosa Beach. **Please plan accordingly and remember to pay at the meters to avoid parking tickets**
You may utilize Beach Dr., an alley just east of The Mermaid Restaurant lot, for quick drop off.

We encourage Teams and/or individual participants to bring silent auction items to this year’s Los Angeles Brain Tumor Walk! The amount raised for the items you bring will go back to your team or individual fundraising tally.
We highly recommend that you bring a full description of the silent auction item(s), a starting bid that you’d like, as well as your Team or individual name so we know who to credit. Please feel free to bring as many silent auction items as you’d like. Silent Auction items will be in a designated canopy on the day of the event and you can drop them off to the volunteer in charge of the area.
Food at the Walk
We will have water and granola bars in the morning for our participants on a first come first served basis. There are plenty of restaurants where we are located so feel free to stick around for lunch after our event.
