Volunteer Roles: Connecticut Brain Freeze

Volunteers are essential to the Brain Freeze! Thank you for your dedication to the brain tumor cause. Training is provided when you arrive.

Brain Freeze Volunteer

Street Team – Ongoing (Before Event)
We are looking for individuals or groups to hang posters in local stores, libraries, coffee shops, hospitals, etc. Grab some friends, have a fun few hours, and give back to the brain tumor community!

Set-Up Crew (Day of Event) – 8:30 – 11:30 AM
Help with unloading and placing boxes and supplies in preparation for the event. Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs.

Volunteer Check-in – 8:30 AM – 12:30 PM
Assist the volunteer committee member with checking in all volunteers for the event. After the event, organize and pack remaining supplies. Help with clean up and trash collection.

Registration and Check-In – 9:00 AM – 2:30 PM
Check-in pre-registered participants and register new walk-ups. You may also be responsible for collecting donations, passing out participant incentives, or crowd control in the lines. A mandatory registration training will take place in the morning before registration begins. After the event, organize and pack remaining supplies. Help with clean up and trash collection.

Refreshments (Food Area) – 9:00 AM – 2:30 PM
Assist in setting up the food area. Monitor and help distribute food to participants. After the event, organize and pack remaining supplies. Help with clean up and trash collection.Must be able to be on your feet for long periods of time.

Parking – 10:00 AM – 1:30 PM
Direct all vehicles where to park. A briefing about parking options will take place as applicable. After the event, direct vehicles where to exit. Must be able to be on your feet for long periods of time.

Greeters – 10:00 AM – 2:30 PM
Welcome attendees, answer questions, and direct people to the Registration and Check-In table. After the event, organize and pack remaining supplies. Help with clean up and trash collection.

Honor and Celebrate/Kids Table – 10:00 AM – 2:30 PM
Set up the area, complete with craft supplies. Assist kids with activities. After the event, organize and pack remaining supplies. Help with clean up and trash collection.

Memorabilia Table – 10:00 AM – 2:30 PM
Give out National Brain Tumor Society memorabilia item for a pre-determined donation amount. After the event, organize and pack remaining supplies. Help with clean up and trash collection.

Cheerleaders – 11:30 AM – 1:00 PM
Cheer on the participants as they start the plunge and welcome them back when they return. Noisemakers are provided.

Dressing Rooms – 11:30 AM – 2:30 PM
Inform plungers where they can change and keep lines in order. After the event, organize and pack remaining supplies. Help with clean up and trash collection.
