Event Day Program

7:00AM – Parking Opens (all lots reserved in school complex surrounding middle school. Please follow officer instructions when you arrive. Please approach the site via HWY 115/Old Statesville Road, rather than HWY 21 or Hambright Road)

8:00AM – Team Photos at Mission Area

8:20AM – Remembrance Ceremony

8:30AM – Kids Dash on track

8:40AM – National Anthem

8:45AM – Survivor March on track

8:50AM – Warm Up with Camp Gladiator

9:00AM – 10K Race Start

9:15AM – 5K Race and Walk Start

11:00AM – Awards

12:00PM – AFTER PARTY AT D9 Brewery! Yep – this is NEW! We hope you’ll join us for food trucks and a drink!

Rain or shine, the event will go on!

Regardless of weather, layered clothing, windbreakers, sunglasses and sunscreen are recommended.

Packet Pickup Information:

March 21: Registration, Bib/Shirt Pickup at Lenny Boy Brewing in Charlotte. 4-7pm

March 22: Registration, Bib/Shirt Pickup at JM Alexander Middle School Track. 7-9pm

March 23: Registration, Bib/Shirt Pickup at JM Alexander Middle School Track. 7-8:30am

Parking

The middle school has ample FREE parking!

Dropping off Team Tents/Materials?
Come by Friday evening between 7-9pm and you can drop off your tent, chairs, tables, etc. We will have overnight security to watch your stuff! Don’t set up your tent, just in case there’s wind, until the morning of the event.

We are always looking for AWESOME volunteers. All funds raised through these events allow the National Brain Tumor Society to advance research and public policy to improve the lives of all those living with a brain tumor, as well as anyone who will be diagnosed tomorrow. Our mission is to find a cure for brain tumors – register today to help make a difference in the fight against brain tumors.

Is there a registration fee?

5K Walker Adult (no bib, untimed)

$25 / $30 as of Feb 23 / $40 day of event

5K Walker Youth (17 & under, no bib, untimed)

FREE / $5 as of Feb 23 / $10 day of event

$35 / $40 as of Feb 23 / $50 day of event

Upon registration, you will receive a personal fundraising page and useful online tools to help you jumpstart your efforts. Even after the event is over, you will still have access to your personal fundraising page, allowing you to maximize your impact in the fight against brain tumors.

Am I required to fundraise a minimum amount?

Adults are encouraged to raise a minimum of $200 or more to help fund the discovery of a cure and better treatments for brain tumors. A donation table is available at the event to drop off checks and cash. Be sure to bring your donations with you so we can count them there towards the day end totals!

Where do Brain Tumor Events funds go?

Proceeds from the event support research to find a cure for brain tumors, public policy advocacy, and patient information to make sure the critical needs of the brain tumor community are met, through the National Brain Tumor Society (NBTS).

Do I need to register my children?

All participants are required to register.

I plan to participate to support one of my friends and their team. Do I still have to register?

If you are walking, running or riding you must register to participate. If you plan to attend as a cheering section, you do not need to register. Registration is open at the event for anyone to register.

Can I walk and volunteer?

Yes! If you plan to walk and volunteer, please register as a Walker FIRST, and then email us your contact information.

What are Matching Gift Programs?

Many employers have matching gift programs and will match any charitable contributions made by their employees. Ask your employer or HR department for more information. Generally, you will be asked to complete and submit a form to NBTS for approval. This form can be sent to the above address.

Are pets allowed at the event?

Well-behaved pups are permitted to join us! Please keep your pets on a leash at all times. And, if your pet does not do well in large crowds, please consider leaving them at home. Please do not leave your pet in your car during the event.

Will I receive an event t-shirt?

All registered participants, volunteers, and survivors receive a t-shirt.
